Mijas Village

Mijas is one of the most famous traditional 'white' villages in Spain and one of the largest municipality's in the Malaga province of Andalucia. Mijas pueblo is a jewel on the Costa del Sol and overlooks the Mediterranean Sea with stunning views towards Gibraltar, the Atlas Mountains and the African coastline.

There are several places of interest including churches, a bull ring, museums and a Picasso Museum.

Sanctuary

Within Mijas there are quaint, narrow winding cobbled streets and dazzling centuries old white townhouses which further add to the charm of this picturesque hillside village.

You can take a horse and trap ride through this enchanting small town and choose one of the numerous restaurants to eat in. There are numerous festivals and carnivals during the year and weekly flamenco shows in the main square - there is bound to be something exciting on during your stay.

Alleys

Local shops in Mijas provide all that you need for your holiday with the full range of shops available nearby from small specialty traders to large hypermarkets like El Corte Ingles. You must try the Malaga market - it is a great experience if you like food shopping. Bringing back that just caught sea bass or those big juicy Spanish tomatoes and a local Malaga wine for an evening meal treat just can't be beaten!

Inland can be found the 'Real Spain' of breathtaking mountain views and many 'Ventas' - the typical Spanish restaurant. Lively Fuengirola is just 15 minutes away (8 km) and boasts many fine restaurants, water sports, beaches, a marina and an aqua park.

The well known main town of Marbella presents both the old and new faces of the Costa del Sol and is just a 20 minute drive along the coast road which has more fine beaches, restaurants, bars and great shopping. El Casco Antigo, Marbella's charming Old Town, is a warren of whitewashed streets with authentic tapas bars and is a vibrant place to visit day or night. And don't miss Marbella's famous Orange Square!

Further afield you can easily reach the historic mountain towns of Rhonda and Granada where a visit to the Alhambra is a day not to be missed.

Seville is about two and a half hours drive from, Mijas and is well worth a visit.

Gibraltar is about one and a half hours drive away.

The quaint seaside fishing town of Nerja along the coast is another must see as are Andalucia's nearby scenic mountains with it's fascinating caves.
